Le Comptoir Gastronomique Européen (The European Gastronomic Counter – LCGE) was born from a desire for discovery and sharing. Discovery of what our continent has to offer in terms of the best in gastronomy, which we still have too little pleasure in knowing in France, from Viennese pastries to wines from the Douro Valley, not to mention Piedmont chocolate and Flemish beer. But above all, we want to share these discoveries.
We are convinced that the quality of a dish is multiplied when consumed in good company, and that each culinary experience enriches the gourmet within each of us. That is why we fully subscribe to the statement of the most illustrious of gourmets, Anthelme Brillat-Savarin: “The discovery of a new dish does more for the happiness of mankind than the discovery of a star.” Our belief is that there is a European gastronomy to be created, by combining local products from all over the continent.
For us, the future lies in piadine accompanied by piquillos, smoked Black Forest ham, honey from the Peloponnese, and aged Gouda.
